My special friend is Marla. She's fun. We had sausage for breakfast. Marla helps me. I love Doc's stories because he knows me. Doc talked about Moses in Egypt and about the Indians' long walk away from their home village. It was a sad story, but God went with them. I love Mark too, and I sang up front with him in the band. He said I was going to be a famous singer. I'm going to sing with him for the talent show. Maybe the Tree Song, if nobody else wants that one. At arts and crafts, I made a lantern, a picture frame and a puzzle with my picture on it. It was very pretty. One of the pieces got lost and Marla found a new one for me. We took a rest time after lunch, but I wasn't sleepy. Marla said I could draw or make my puzzle go together. I wore my new camp shirt today, and put on my swimming suit for the beach this afternoon, under my shirt. We had to see some dancers doing African dances at the big top. It was a nice day. One of the dancers asked me to help, so I did. Lots of us helped out. It was OK and fun. We went swimming in Lake Michigan this afternoon. It was windy, but fun. I didn't want to get my hair wet. Marla said I didn't have to. She didn't get her hair wet either. We left the beach early to take a shower at the bath house and get ready for dinner. I got dressed again. We had a carnival and I got some cotton candy. Yum! I did ring toss and a relay. There was a clown with white make up and colors. She was funny and made balloons. She gave me a dog balloon. Doc talked after that. He told a story about helping others far away from home. That's what I'm going to do tomorrow. Tomorrow is the talent show. I'm nervous to sing, but Mark said I'd be good at it tomorrow. There are a lot of campers and counselors here. Some of them are my new friends. Some of them are just my old friends. I like Marla. She goes to Grand Valley and is going to teach kids. She's my special friend forever. Marla helped me before bedtime tonight. She said I was her new friend. She wrote this journal while I just talked, right now. Marla and me are laughing right now. She's writing this down. I hope I don't have any bad dreams, and have angels around my bed-like the song. I wonder what will happen tomorrow. Good night. |
